Organisations, Users, and Roles

Activities in HerdPlan are organised around two main types of organisations: Farms and Veterinary Practices. Each organisation has specific user roles associated with it.

HerdPlan Organisation Structure

Farms

Represents a farm, which is the primary unit for livestock management and health planning in HerdPlan.

Farmers

  • Farmer accounts can be associated with one or more farms.

  • Each farm can have multiple farmer accounts, but only one can be assigned as Farm Manager.

  • Responsible for overall farm management and strategy (i.e. setting farm policies, managing farm staff and consultants, etc.)

  • Can access and edit all farm-related data, if Farm Manager or assigned read/write permissions.

  • Collaborate with veterinarians and other farm staff

Farm Staff

  • Carry out day-to-day farm tasks

  • Record animal health data and observations

  • Limited access to farm data

  • Follow health plans and management protocols

Veterinary Practices

Represent the veterinary clinics or practices that provide healthcare services to farms.

Veterinarians

  • Provide support to the veterinarian

  • Create and update animal health plans

  • Access farm health data for their assigned farms

  • Collaborate with farmers and farm staff on health management

  • Review and sign-off health plans etc.

Vet Administrators

  • Provide professional medical care for livestock

  • Create and update animal health plans

  • Access farm health data for their assigned farms

  • Collaborate with farmers and farm staff on health management

Consultancies

Consultants

  • External experts providing specialized advice (e.g. nutrition, etc.)

  • Can view relevant farm data with read-only permission

  • Offer recommendations for farm improvement and health management

  • Collaborate with farmers
